S.P.Y takes us Back to Basics

11th April 2014

With the dust not yet settled on his massive debut ‘What The Future Holds’, S.P.Y is already taking us ‘Back To Basics’ with a rough and rugged new long player. Going deeper and darker this time round, S.P.Y’s uncompromising approach to production and an unparalleled dancefloor pedigree has been getting d+b dons hot under the collar:

Total Science “Carlos back to his filthy best!”

Dillinja “love it”

DJ Marky “Killer”

Fabio “Sick”

Pascal “Pure class as you would expect from S.P.Y – Still my favourite producer”

Doc Scott “There’s only one S.P.Y!”

The first instalment of ‘Back To Basics Chapter One’ comes in the form of an exclusive 2×12″ vinyl only sampler, available right here on the hospital shop. The full album release follows in a matter of weeks, and is already available to pre-order. Collaborators include Total Science and Rene LaVice, as well as vocal contributions from Grimm, the Legendary Diane Charlemagne, and dancehall don Suku of Ward 21.

Pursuing a rapid ascension to D&B’s top table since signing to Hospital Records Fred V & Grafix have quickly become one of the most talked about acts in the scene. Having remixed top 10 hits for Rudimental and Subfocus, and released a string of singles and tracks on Hospital, they now present their debut long player. An ambitious and consummate development of the sound they have become know for, built on a solid foundation of d&b beats, the album combines their love for live music, weighty sub bass and creative collaborations with newschool vocalists and producers. With the support of dance music luminaries Subfocus and Netsky, as well as backing from Radio one’s Zane Lowe, Annie Mac and Mistajam, Fred V & Grafix are well on the way to crossover success.

Since the latter half of the last decade, Alex Melia aka Reso has been blending heightened technological futurism with dancefloor prowess to create a densely cinematic musical universe. ‘Tangram’ Reso’s much anticipated debut album was released in Nov 2012 and received heavy support from Mixmag (Album of the month), XLR8R, The Guardian, FACT, RA, NME, as well as other key musical luminaries such as Liam Howlett, Skrillex, Skream & Benga, DJ Food, Salva, Rusko and more. Tangram is a landmark thirteen track odyssey that reaffirms the place of the ‘album’ within modern electronic music and cements Reso as one of the worlds most forward thinking producers.
