OUT NOW: Fred V & Grafix ‘Unrecognisable’

Monday, November 24th, 2014

Fred V & Grafix, together with the help of Hospital’s A&R hit squad have stylishly curated a collection of d+b talent to re-work tracks from their critically acclaimed debut album, which was released earlier this year.

Featuring the Fred V vocalled single ‘Recognise’, as well as the Radio One playlisted ‘Forest Fires (feat Etherwood), the album ‘Recognise’ was nominated for ‘Album of the Year’ at the Independent Music Awards – alongside the likes of London Grammar and The Arctic Monkeys.

Eschewing obvious names in favour of cutting-edge artists who are already shaping the future of the genre. The likes of Etherwood, Keeno, Chords and Fredric Robinson represent a new generation, bringing a fresh injection of musical genius to d+b.

On top of the twelve remixes Fred V & Grafix also present one brand new track in the shape of ‘3-D Glasses’. The first new material from the boys since February, it’s a slice of warping triplet time d+b that mines a the current vogue of classical influenced dance music.

Since the albums release Fred V & Grafix have been touring the globe non-stop, playing gigs and festivals from Glastonbury to LA. Finding time in between gigs to turn in remixes for the likes of MNEK, Second City, Netsky and Hybrid.

OUT NOW: Nu:Tone ‘Future History’

Monday, October 20th, 2014

‘Future History’ is Nu:Tone’s fourth studio album. Nu:Tone is an artist with the kind of rich history and authority to be able to reach into drum+bass’ deepest past and create an album of snapshots from the many ages of jungle; with knowing nods to classic tracks and the sound of hallmark events – from ‘Swerve’ at the Velvet Rooms to ‘Logical Progression’ and ‘Hospitality at Heaven’.

Opening with the epic ‘‘Til Dawn’ – recalling New Deep Society’s ‘Warehouse Dayz of Glory’ – an apt mission statement for the project. Soul chanteuse Lea Lea adds spine tingling vocals to ‘Tides’ before Hospitality favourite Dynamite MC steps up to the mic with the infectious bassline wobbler ‘Cannibals’. Further into the dark interior of the album things get murky with twisted rap genius, and original Ultramagnetic MC, Kool Keith blessing ‘Metaphor 6000’. As the voice of the prodigy’s ‘Smack My B*tch Up’, it’s a rare appearance for the seminal US rapper, and a coup for Nu:Tone. Across thirteen tracks, ‘Future History’ is bursting with moments of genius – each track looking squarely forward through a prism of the past.

Preview ‘Metaphor 6000’ feat. Kool Keith on our youtube page:

Few drum+bass artists command the same respect as Nu:Tone, both within the scene and across the wider dance music community, with his recent discography taking in remixes for the likes of 3 beat, Warner and Sony. Nu:Tone has stripped down and re-worked the likes of Axwell, Sandy Revera et al, with Major labels clamouring for his skills behind a mixing desk.

Pre-order: Krakota debut Hospital single ‘Xylo’

Thursday, October 9th, 2014

Hospital’s freshest signing and Bournemouth based producer Krakota is set to release his debut Hospital EP on the 13th of October, which includes two contrasting tracks of quality nu-school d+b magic; ‘Xylo’, and ‘Irregular’on the flipside. Instantly recognisable thanks to it’s infectious percussive riff (the clue’s is in the title), ‘Xylo’ is a syncopated stepper which drops hard thanks to a rugged rumbling off beat sub. ‘Irregular’ switches the story with stacato synth work and angry angular beats.

With earlier releases on Critical, Ingredients, Subtitles and the mighty Playaz label, not to mention two tracks on Hospitals epic ‘We Are 18’ compilation at the start of this year, Krakota see the likes of Friction, Fabio and Crissy Criss already supporting heavily.

Hospital Records Radio on Forza Horizon 2

Tuesday, September 2nd, 2014

We’re very excited to announce that we have joined forces with Microsoft and Playground Games to develop the Hospital Records Radio station on the brand new Forza Horizon 2 computer game which is set for release on 30th September 2014.

Rob da Bank curates the overall soundtrack and invites his music industry friends and favourite independent record labels from around the world to host radio stations in the game: Hospital Records, Innovative Leisure, and Ninja Tune.

Our station features the familiar voices of London Elektricity and Hospital M.D. Chris Goss, as you race round Europe and the Horizon music festival with Hospital Records and Med School Music as your soundtrack. Look out for some brand new unreleased music from Metrik and Nu:Tone’s forthcoming albums, as well as very some familiar tracks by artists across both labels.

In addition, Med School star Keeno provides the soundtrack to the coveted “press start” sequence, which means ‘Nocturne’ is the first track you hear when you play the game!

“London’s undisputed kings of drum & bass bring all of their top artists to Horizon for the very first time.” Microsoft

‘We had so much fun recording the voice overs with Microsoft and its a massive honour to appear on the game alongside such a high calibre of talent.” London Elektricity

Med School release Keeno ‘Nocturne’ also appears on the press start sequence, which means this is the first track you hear when ever anyone plays the game.
