OUT NOW: ‘House Remixes’ EP

Tuesday, February 24th, 2015

Over recent months we’ve been hearing some tip-top remix work from a number of artists outside our usual realm of drum & bass. By collating four of our favourites we’ve created the ‘House Remixes’ EP featuring S.P.Y and Nu:Tone remixes from legendary house pioneer Sandy Rivera as well as Dirtybird breakthrough Shadowchild with his remix of S.P.Y’s ‘Guidance’ ft Total Science, as heard first on Annie Mac’s BBC Radio 1 Friday night show.

Alongside are the well deserving winners from our previous remix competitions, with Takao’s take on S.P.Y’s ‘Dusty Fingers’ and Aaron Beko’s spin on Nu:Tone’s ‘Lightning’.

Available to purchase now exclusively on BEATPORT.

PRE-ORDER: Krakota – ‘Ice Hands’ / ‘Ghosts’

Thursday, February 19th, 2015

Bournemouth-based Sebastian Inwood has been hitting the D+B circuit hard since exclusively signing to the Hospital camp last June. Already with his full-pelting Hospital debut under his belt it’s time for take two, bringing a chillingly cold welcome to his daringly destructive ‘Ice Hands’ and ‘Ghosts’ combo.

“Ice Hands”, evoking sci-fi inspired scenes lulls you into a false sense of security before taking a sudden turn; submerging you in a deep pit of quick punching synths and complex drum-patterns that let you get lost. A track that teases the ear, discovering new found levels with each play.

The futuristic sounds of “Ghosts” surround you with a sense of the supernatural. A progressive build of percussions creep up like a rocket ready to launch before dropping into an accompaniment of transfixing sub-bass and filthy synths that grab you and don’t let go. A track not only to keep your ears warm at night but ideal for any dance-floor, guaranteed to revive any 5AM fall downs. Already receiving support from BBC Radio 1′s Friction, with an exclusive first play on his Monday night D+B show.

Tomahawk aka Tom Kelsey

This festive season brings down the curtain on the Hospital career of Tom Kelsey.
The Tomahawk started working with us as a volunteer, whilst still at college back in 2001. He soon became entirely indispensable and thankfully Tom was happy to stay long enough to eventually be offered a full-time job in promotions.

As a skilled producer, DJ and the world’s biggest Danny Byrd fan, he swiftly established himself as a pivotal part of our little team. He was resident DJ in the early days of Hospitality at Herbal, and contributed some real nuggets to our early compilations: Hospital Mix 2 (“Strictly Ballroom”), Plastic Surgery (“Until Dawn”) and Weapons Of Mass Creation (“Straw Dogs”).

Tom became our go-to guy for DJ mixes on the Hospitality projects, and – unbeknown to most people – was also a studio diva; vocals, acapellas, bv’s, and soundtrack oddities for High Contrast, Danny Byrd, S.P.Y, Metrik, and Nu:Logic. When London Elektricity morphed into a live band in 2003, Tom was the obvious choice for live sound engineer and occasional TM and van driver. He has been one 3rd of the A&R machine for many years, as well as mastering engineer and from time to time co-writer – including highlights such as “Hot Fuzz”, “Metamorphosis”, and “Collateral”.

Blessed with an acerbic wit and deft turn of phrase, Tom has headed up our promotions department, and been driving our radio-plugging for many years. His three straight A-list singles in a row for the ‘Rave Digger’ campaign stands as a company benchmark. He’s also quite the Home Improvement man about town; Tom masterminded our recent office refurb, and crafted our new 2 and 3-person desks.

All-in-all, he is a don. A massive part of Hospital’s growth and success. We will miss him big style and wish him every success in his future ventures.
