OUT NOW: Lynx – ‘Where Are You?’ EP

Monday, December 1st, 2014

The debut release from Hospital Records’ latest exclusive signing Lynx. This Portsmouth based produced is known to many within the drum+bass scene for his unique, rhythmic, anthemic productions, and for those who don’t know – be assured you’ll be hearing a lot more from him over the coming months. This EP of four stand out cuts introduces the diverse sound of a producer at the top of his game.

Lead track “Where Are You?” raises the levels of P Funk intrigue to breaking point, before the pentatonic wizardry of a trademark Lynx bass-line melody kicks in. ‘Bees Knees’ follows on – a track so infectious, it’s been keeping staff at Hospital’s Purple Gates HQ awake all night.

‘Hurting’ takes things deeper and darker, with Master X’s heartfelt delivery underpinned by some filthy jungle styles. Aggressive distorted subs, off beat percussion and animal cries provide the soundtrack to a royal rumble in the rainforest. Last but by no means least comes ‘Blue’, a hard-boiled P-funk steppa. Like a post apocalyptic night down at Ronnie Scott’s, this jam is hot.

DJ Marky – “INCREDIBLE!!!! Best release in years!!!”

Crissy Cris -”Wicked!”

Jenna G – “Excellent to hear Lynx back with a bang!”

Ulterior Motive – “Production Masterclass as per!”

OUT NOW: Anile ‘Losing My Mind’ EP Forthcoming on Med School

Monday, November 24th, 2014

Med School are extremely excited to present the “Losing My Mind” EP, our final release of 2014 and the debut solo release from the label’s latest signing, Anile.

Since joining the label back in May of this year, following a handful of popular releases on both Med School and Hospital, Anile has worked tirelessly to craft this elegant and sophisticated four-track EP. The title track combines bold brass stabs, brooding string sections and an indelible vocal hook into an alluring drum & bass roller. Throughout the rest of the assembly you can be sure to dote on a brew of deep-seated basslines, thoughtful musicality and rolling breaks.

Having delivered a scintillating remix of Blu Mar Ten earlier this year and with releases on the likes of Soul:r and Commercial Suicide, Anile looks to further cement his sound in the drum & bass consciousness with this latest collection of tracks on Med School. This is one for the discerning DJ and the astute listener alike.

Tuesday, November 4th, 2014

Fred V & Grafix, together with the help of Hospital’s A&R hit squad have stylishly curated a collection of d+b talent to re-work tracks from their critically acclaimed debut album, which was released earlier this year.

On top of the twelve remixes Fred V & Grafix also present one brand new track in the shape of ‘3-D Glasses’. The first new material from the boys since February, it’s a slice of warping triplet time d+b that mines a the current vogue of classical influenced dance music.

Since the albums release Fred V & Grafix have been touring the globe non-stop, playing gigs and festivals from Glastonbury to LA. Finding time in between gigs to turn in remixes for the likes of MNEK, Second City, Netsky and Hybrid.

OUT NOW: Krakota ‘Xylo’ EP

Thursday, October 2nd, 2014

Hospital’s freshest signing and Bournemouth based producer Krakota is set to release his debut Hospital EP on the 13th of October, which includes two contrasting tracks of quality nu-school d+b magic; ‘Xylo’, and ‘Irregular’on the flipside. Instantly recognisable thanks to it’s infectious percussive riff (the clue’s is in the title), ‘Xylo’ is a syncopated stepper which drops hard thanks to a rugged rumbling off beat sub. ‘Irregular’ switches the story with stacato synth work and angry angular beats.

With earlier releases on Critical, Ingredients, Subtitles and the mighty Playaz label, not to mention two tracks on Hospitals epic ‘We Are 18’ compilation at the start of this year, Krakota see the likes of Friction, Fabio and Crissy Criss already supporting heavily.
