Fresh off the back of his highly acclaimed ‘Alone In The Dark’ series, S.P.Y’s momentum shows no sign of slowing down. With his foot firmly on the gas, the Bristolian dancefloor terminator brings his impeccable abilities to his latest releases: ‘Frequency’ and ‘Midnight Blue’. With a never-flinching ability to keep things fresh, S.P.Y’s latest release effortlessly tackles new takes on the jungle sound. With little warning, ‘Frequency’ launches into an elegant yet absolutely guttural tirade of staggered amen stabs. Partnered with an abrasive melody, this aggressive mechanical stepper is guaranteed to prize out every bassface in the immediate vicinity. If you manage to survive ‘Frequency’ you’ll be rewarded with the atmospherical delights of ‘Midnight Blue’, already picked up by BBC Radio 1's Annie Mac. This sublime roller is the alter ego of this double A-side release, complete with delicate soundscaping and subtle synths from the stars, with that trademark jungle bass bounce. S.P.Y has been wheeling in support in recent months from dance music’s leading voice Annie Mac, showcasing his DJ finesse with a jungle mini-mix for her on BBC Radio 1. He was welcomed back to the studio in April as part of their Rave Lounge in a high-energy B2B set with D+B’s tastemaker Rene LaVice. 2018 also sees the start of S.P.Y’s new Dubplate Style movement, where his specially curated line up of jungle and D+B heavyweights will be showcased in his own room 2 takeover at Critical Music’s Summer Sonic BBQ.
