Welcome to Med School: Lakeway

July 2, 2018 in News

Making waves in all sorts of ways, Lakeway can now proudly call Med School his home. With his distinctive and versatile sound that encompasses grime, jungle and footwork elements, Lakeway has come into his own. Albeit early in his artistry, the Exeter-based producer has struck a chord with some of the scene’s biggest names, impressing the likes of London Elektricity with his electrifying technical DJing ability.

A myriad of original productions, bootlegs and exclusive cuts sees Lakeway stand out against his bass music peers. Only in his early twenties but Lakeway had already performed at the iconic Fabric nightclub, graced BBC Radio 1 frequencies with an exclusive guest mix, and received support from the leading dance music tastemakers DJ Mag and Mixmag.

An eclectic list of influences include the likes of renowned beatsmith Sinjn Hawke and 140 dubstep tastemakers Kahn & Neek. Contemporary junglist icon Sully and drum & bass trailblazer Rockwell have also played major roles in honing Lakeways sound. Debut EP ‘Frozen Nerves’ has been met with critical acclaim from across the genre and beyond, and we can safely say there is plenty more to come on the horizon…

Welcome to the family Lakeway!

Speech Therapy 001: Krakota & The Mongol Rally

Welcome to the first edition of what will be an occasional sub genre of the Hospital Podcast, called 'Speech Therapy'. No, this isn't us trying to teach you how to speak proper, but it's a chance to go in on interesting people with stories to tell who are connected to the drum and bass world. All talk, no music. If you like jogging to our podcasts, maybe skip these, but if you've been wanting more of the inside story, listen on. I kick off the series with an in depth journal from Krakota describing his drive in the 2018 Mongol Rally. Driving from Prague to the Eastern edge of Mongolia. In an ancient Ford Fiesta. With only 3 pairs of pants (English word for male underwear). I hope you enjoy this new endeavour - back to the music next week!
