The third release in Hospitals ''Classic Symptoms'' series. Giving both recent converts to the Hospital sound as well as avid collectors the opportunity to delve deep into the NHS archive and pull out some of the more underground masterpieces from the catalogue as well as dust down the classics and propel them back into the ears of a whole new generation of junglists.
Going right back to the start with these two – from original Hospital artists London Elektricity. Originally released back in 1998 these two original slabs of fast soul music epitomise the early London Elektricity sound.
''Song In The Key Of Knife'' is the original lounge-core epic. Nearly 12 minutes long and with a structure and orchestration that would make a jazz big-band blush. ''Pull The Plug'' became the title track for the debut London Elektricty album. 8 minutes of frenetic upright bass action and dirty breakbeat action.
Way ahead of their time, both tracks became underground classics, with heavyweights of the scene such as Doc Scott and Goldie dropping them in their sets in among the darker, moodier beats which were the order of the day. More recently these two classics became favourites of the London Elektricity live show. With the brand new London Elektricity album about to cause a storm – what better time to revisit these two oldskool anthems!
