Weapons Of Mass Creation 3 Sampler 2Various Artists
Following up from the massive Blame / Apex sampler 12” and the heavyweight triple pack – it’s time to unleash the final phase of the campaign. The big guns have been wheeled out as we win hearts and minds with these two dancefloor assaults.
The massive Logistics remix of London Elektricity’s “Great Drum & Bass Swindle” has been without doubt one of the hottest dubs on the scene this year, with phone calls to the Hospital office from a whole host of A-list jocks clamoring to cut a dub. Logistics’ first new work since his massive debut LP “Now More Than Ever” and it’s every bit as special as we’ve come to expect from the Cambridge space cadet. Logistics has taken London Elek’s 2003 epic and twisted it up into a main room beats and bass affair – but fear not, the hands in the air breakdown and “Life is Beautiful” vox are still in full effect! Big!
Flip the disc for another out and out dancefloor assault. This time it’s Brazilian boy wonders Bungle & Index with “Forgotten Souls”. Bungle has smashed his way onto the scene this year with a host of big tunes and an album deal with CIA. Right here he offers something a bit different with production partner Index pushing things into deeper, moodier territory. Don’t be lulled into a false sense of security by the soulful melancholy of the intro, once this tune drops it’s all over – with a syncopated b-line so steppy it hurts.
