After a two-year hiatus, Out Patients is back Representing the non-drum+bass output of Hospital Records, this three-track sampler showcases some of the highlights of the new album.
Ultrasound's Latin 1/4 kicks off the proceedings with that classic piano riff and some tough break-step drumming, only to drop to a serious booty-quake-bass line. This has been mashing up dancefloors internationally thanks to heavy rotation from the likes of Jay da Flex, Zed Bias, Emma Feline, Landslide and The Slaughter Mob.
Up next come Infekto from Helsinki, with releases on nine2five and Aquasky's Passenger label, (last year's “Left Hand Jazz” track was a Gilles Peterson favourite.) With a ruffneck break, and loops reminiscent of Pepe Braddock, My Groove is sure to be a winner.
On the flip is some classic soul music from the man like London Elektricity. Featuring an incredible vocal performance from Miss Liane Carrol; London Elektricity's Born to Synthesise was a highpoint of the Billion $ Gravy album. All tracks exclusive on vinyl to this EP.
