After a two year hiatus ‘Hospitality’ is back, and bigger than ever! This massive fifth instalment comes fresh from winning “Best Club Night” (for the fourth year running!) at the Drum&Bass Arena awards.
On Saturday 16th August the BBC airwaves were taken over by the Crème de la crème of the D+B scene as we joined together for the first ever BBC Radio 1 & 1Xtra D+B soundclash. Making history and marking 12 years of BBC 1Xtra, the battle was hosted by Mistajam and Crissy Cris.
“With our troops ready, we’re certainly fired up for the D&B Soundclash with BBC Radio1 & 1Xtra this weekend. It’s a pleasure to go head to head with what can only be described as the Crème de la crème of the scene.
Tough guys from Viper, Shogun’s shoegazers, and Ram’s cockney thugs are no match for our skilled surgeons. Armed with Weapons of Mass Creation we’ll blow the gaff wide open with soul and style!
Jokes beef aside, the D&B scene is fresher than ever and it’s amazing for the BBC to recognise this enough to conduct such an exciting showcase. The diversity of the four labels involved (and so many others) is what keeps our scene crisp with an array of new talent and releases, all of which have their own individual stamp. So it’s more than just a soundclash – it’s a celebration of the strength of the scene. We’re all winners, whatever the outcome… except we will be the winners… obvs.”
The clash consisted of 5 tailored rounds where #TeamHOSPITAL, Ram Records, Shogun Audio and Viper Recordings brought their troops with force to battle for the title.
Round 1 – Team Anthem – Label Boss London Elektricity drops a minimix of classic Hospital bangers to kick off the show.
Round 2 – Quick Mix – Metrik 6 min mix
Round 3 – Secret Guest Minimix – With Fred V & Grafix on the selection TeamHOSPITAL drew for the mighty Noisia!
Round 4 – Bootleg Round – S.P.Y smashes the bootleg round making his mark on Ten Walls – Walking With Elephants.
Round 5 – All Star Mix – Exactly what it says on the tin. All stars uniting with MC Dynamite on mic duties.
London Elektricity provided some epic Dad dancing….
The whole team had a fantastic time and regardless of the outcome it was a fantastic showcase to be apart of and a great way to celebrate the strength of the D+B scene at the moment. It was a win for #TeamHOSPITAL but of course we were ecstatic to walk away with the cup!

Logistics returns with his first release since 2012’s ‘Fear Not‘ album, having spent the last two years collaborating with his brother Dan Nu:tone on the critically acclaimed ‘Nu:Logic’ project.

Across the world millions of children are forced to live or work on the streets. That is why Street Child World Cup has teamed up with one the most popular labels within UK dance music Hospital Records to create the official anthem for the Street Child World Cup, which kicks off in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil in March 2014. Up to 250 former street children from 19 countries will be united in Rio with one clear message: No child should have to live on the streets.
David Beckham, OBE said “I look forward to Brazil in 2014 when street children from around the world will play football and represent the millions of children who still live or work on our streets.“
‘I am Somebody’ features Hospital Records artists London Elektricity, S.P.Y, Diane Charlemagne alongside Corpus Christi School and is a statement of identity which will challenge the negative perceptions and treatment of street children across the world. Featuring great alternative remixes straight off the ward from S.P.Y, Nu:Tone and Med Schools very own Lung.
We will be submitting all the proceeds from this release to this fantastic charity.

The next single from Camo & Krooked in the run up to the release of their brand new album ‘Zeitgeist’ is the exceptional dancefloor detonator ‘Move Around’.The track is classic Camo & Krooked 2.0 – at once uplifting, energetic and innovative to the core.
Kicking off with a flurry of piano keys and a shimmying vocal (courtesy of the award winning Ian Shaw), the track is underpinned by a quirky, warping hook which will get inside your head. Accompanying the original tune is a radio edit, instrumental and a remix by French house producer Uppermost.
This single will be available in digital stores on September 9th. Expect to hear a lot more from Camo & Krooked in the coming weeks as the ‘Zeitgeist’ album is set for release September 30th.
