As one of the founders of Japan’s drum & bass culture, Makoto is a man who needs little introduction. On his sixth studio album, ‘Tomodachi Sessions’, he presents 15-tracks of exquisite, sun-drenched drum & bass soul. Each and every track is a collaboration with a close friend, that has played a part in his twenty-year career, with the likes of DJ Marky, S.P.Y, Bop, MC Conrad, Pola & Bryson, Degs, Karina Ramage and more.
To celebrate the release of his long-awaited ‘Dubplate Style’ LP, S.P.Y joined Ed Priest on the Hospital Records radio show this month, for a guest-mix including 30 minutes of pure exclusive jungle action. Sitting either side of the guest-mix was 90 minutes of fresh cuts from D+B labels around the globe, including Critical, Metalheadz, Blu Mar Ten, Exit, Souped Up, Subtitles and of course Hospital!
This month the legendary S.P.Y took to the wheels of steel for a 30-minute ‘Dubplate Style’ guest-mix on the Hospital Records podcast on the iconic Rinse FM. Joining Chris Goss and Ed Priest, Hospital stalwart Krakota had a chat with the Hospital commander-in-chief to discuss his forthcoming EP ‘See For Miles’ and his recent journey across Europe and Asia for the infamous ‘Mongol Rally’.
Music from Hospital, Med School, Dispatch, Critical, Metalheadz, Future Retro, Liondub International, Blu Mar Ten Music, Playaz, Ish Chat, Soulvent and more!
S.P.Y returns with the second single from his newly formed ‘Dubplate Style’ movement. With a classic ‘95 flavour, ‘Grey Days’ and ‘Shadows Of The Mind’ are a homage to the foundations of drum & bass. Fresh off the press with only 100 physical copies in existence, this super exclusive release takes it back to the original sound.
Fresh off the back of his highly acclaimed ‘Alone In The Dark’ series, S.P.Y’s momentum shows no sign of slowing down. With his foot firmly on the gas, the Bristolian dancefloor terminator brings his impeccable abilities to his latest releases: ‘Frequency’ and ‘Midnight Blue’. With a never-flinching ability to keep things fresh, S.P.Y’s latest release effortlessly tackles new takes on the jungle sound.
Our very own S.P.Y is making D+B history.
Joining Critical Music for their first ever day time event, he will be curating an entire jungle experience for us in the beautiful Studio:338 garden space. It’s with keen anticipation that we present to you this bespoke junglist heaven…
S.P.Y‘s ‘Alone In The Dark’ trilogy has finally come to an end, and with this final piece of the puzzle complete, we are proud to announce S.P.Y’s ultimate sonic chapter is available today! They say three’s a crowd, but in this case they couldn’t be more wrong, and it’s safe to say S.P.Y has ended on a high.
S.P.Y has been prolific of late returning to the vanguard of the drum & bass circuit with his ‘Alone In The Dark’ trilogy. He’s a man-turned-machine, firing out bass weapons from his Bristolian treasurecave of synths throughout 2017 all leading up to the final chapter, EP:3.
S.P.Y continues to deliver the good with the second installment of his ‘Alone In The Dark’ trilogy. Going in somewhat darker than the predecessor of the trilogy, this 5 track relic of drum & bass see’s S.P.Y catering to his staple deep and deadly sonic style.
For the latest goings-ons at Hospital and to keep up-to-date with all of our artists.
